This is our second project with our friends at Milk + Honey. As before, the project balanced the needs of the extensive back-of-house, retail, spa and salon operations. If all works correctly, clients should be presented with a seemingly peaceful environment masking the industry occurring out of sight and out of earshot.
As with Milk + Honey Downtown, we worked with an existing shell and it’s related challenges. While we work to keep the spa spaces intimate, this former Saks Fifth Avenue shell boasted 45 foot high ceilings in some areas and a peculiar gold-leaf clad monitor with an oculus at its center. Our choice was to embrace it – leaving the gold leaf in place. With its large central planter and tree, it creates a singular space to relax.
Milk + Honey is open and has real pandemic measures in place. It has been a stressful year. You need a massage.
