Landscape Residence

This is a schematic design from the winter of 2015–2016. It represents an evolution in our thinking — a step outside the more formal instincts predominating in the work from our first decade.

This is a house without a shape, a form that cannot be fully absorbed from a single viewpoint. It is concerned with experience over formal impact, prioritizing “feel” over affect. Intentionally eschewing style and trend, the residence addresses the hallowed nature of truly private space. It prizes intangible elements like light filtering over an imperfect concrete wall and the sound of water falling in a courtyard. It is architecture as an extension of landscape.
