The design assignment for the Hotel Rainey — initially conceived as an extension of the Kimber Modern brand — was an exciting but difficult proposition. Occupying a manifestly urban interstate site, the 32 room hotel was initially intended to serve as both an extension of the existing brand while pushing its boundaries into new territories. Although the site is relatively small, the program called for a 4-story hotel with a restaurant, event spaces, pool and underground parking, while also working within the context of its Rainey Historic District location—a lively downtown area increasingly populated by bars, restaurants as well as new large-scale residential developments. All the while there is the inescapable fact that although the hotel will participate in the Rainey District, it faces I-35.
The 23,000 sf hotel will feature 7 suites and 24 guest rooms with full amenities and clean well conceived design and detailing. Construction is set to commence in Spring 2016.
