Brickhouse

• The Barton Hills Brickhouse is a residence for a husband and wife team who work in the music promotion business. The house combines a brick-clad high-modern form with a structured and terraced landscape that creates a series of outdoor “rooms.”

  The structure is unabashedly modernist, but we designed it in collaboration with our clients to accommodate their lifestyles and to act as a canvas for their eclectic tastes.

• In the rear yard, the structure insinuates itself into a restorative urban meadow with terraces and planters rendered in weathered steel and board-formed concrete.
