Tracing the Line

This installation – commissioned by the Waller Creek Conservancy (now Waterloo Greenway) – was equal parts landscape and architecture. The stated mission was to illuminate the potential of the creek and its pending redevelopment. We achieved these powerful results using flashlights, T8 fluorescent tube guards, and electrical conduit. Basically, things we could find at Home Depot.
Our installation was an economical solution to a challenging assignment: to illuminate the potential of the creek. Watching people walk portions of the creek while they photographed themselves against our work was one of the most gratifying experiences of our early career.

The Waterloo Greenway redevelopment is partially complete. We are grateful for our tiny role in its realization.
Those three nights were cold. The hypodermic needles and spent condoms that littered the creek then are worlds away from the veloway and parkscape you will find today.
