Stubbs Greenroom
-
Stubbs Barbeque and Waller Creek Amphitheater (located in downtown Austin, Texas) engaged us to assist in improving its amenities in an inaccessible triangle along Waterloo Greenway (previously Waller Creek). The crux of the design problem was that the improvements would reside in a floodplain – whatever we installed needed to be moveable. The solutions was the fit-out of a disused 1970s Airstream trailer, transforming it into a “greenroom” for artists playing at the venue.

We worked closely with Pilgrim Builders (acting, without respect to role, as designers and craftspeople) to produce a truly unique environment in a scant two weeks. As we left on the Friday before Austin City Limits Music Festival, Manu Chao and his band were warming up. By the end of its first weekend of existence, it served as the temporary home for Bright Eyes, Iron and Wine and Jim James.
